Red Sox Mentoring Challenge

Red Sox Mentoring ChallengeMMP and the Boston Red Sox are into the fourth year of the Red Sox Mentoring Challenge, an initiative designed to recruit more mentors statewide and refer them to official campaign partner mentoring programs in the MMP network.

At the helm as honorary campaign chairman is NBA Hall of Famer Bill Russell, who serves on the board of MENTOR.

Right now more than 3,000 kids are waiting for a mentor in the Commonwealth, but the Challenge has helped to reduce the gap.

Since 2005, more than 1,000 prospective mentors from across the Commonwealth have been identified, and of those, it’s estimated that more than 300 adults have been matched with a child or are going through the process of becoming a mentor.

NESN will continue to promote the Red Sox Mentoring Challenge this year with spots running later in the season. In addition, the Entercom network of stations, including WEEI.com, WRKO.com, WAAF.com and 937MIKEFM.com, will run streaming-media RSMC  PSAs on their Web sites.
