Mentor & Mentee Training

MMP staff will plan and facilitate introductory training sessions at your site to help mentors and mentees to maximize the mentoring relationship. Trainings are scheduled with individual mentoring programs and will involve the program’s staff in setting the agenda and during the workshop.

Mentoring 101 for Mentors: A hands-on workshop for volunteers to clarify the roles and tasks of a mentor, address their expectations and concerns, enhance communication skills, provide insight into youth development, and increase awareness of diversity and its impact on the mentoring relationship.

Mentoring 101 for Mentees: Through group exercises and discussion, youth have the opportunity to learn more about what to expect and have the opportunity to address their concerns prior to being matched with their mentor.

Match Kick-Off Events: Facilitated group activities will promote a comfortable environment in which mentors and mentees will meet and interact for the first time.

Fees are set based on length of workshop, number of trainers required, and the specific needs of your program. Fees may be waived for Mass Service Alliance and United Way of Mass Bay and Merrimack Valley grantees.

For more information or to schedule training for your program, please contact Linda Peterson, Manager of Training, 617-695-2436 or lpeterson@massmentors.org.
