Expand your program's reach. Host an Ambassador!

Highland Street Ambassadors of Mentoring are full-time AmeriCorps members who are placed at mentoring programs and youth-serving organizations statewide to help build capacity through program development/start-up and support; mentor/mentee training; match support; and mentor/mentee recruitment/marketing. If you're looking to build the quality of your mentoring program in a cost-effective way, hosting an Ambassador may be for you!

Hosting an AmeriCorps Ambassador will provide your organization with the following benefits:

  • a dedicated member who'll receive trainings based on the Elements of Effective Practice, to specifically benefit existing mentoring programs or build new mentoring initiatives
  • trainings cover areas such as program development, mentor/mentee training, match support, and marketing and mentor recruitment
  • a cost-effective way to help your programs serve more youth and help adults perform a community service
  • involving your organization in a larger national service movement and workforce development
  • partnership with MMP and youth-serving organizations statewide
  • ongoing site partner and member support and TA upon request

Since the program started in 2008, the Ambassadors have supported more than 750 matches, trained more than 900 mentors, mentees, and parents, and recruited more than 1,200 new mentors.  Our site partners are raving about their Ambassadors' accomplishments!

"ACCESS was thrilled with our partnership with MMP and the Ambassadors of Mentoring program. We are experts in college financial aid, not mentoring. But when we decided we wanted to start a mentoring program to help Boston’s youth stay in college by pairing them with recent college graduates, the Ambassadors of Mentoring program was there to help! Starting from scratch with any program can be so tough, but the training, support and coaching that MMP provided our entire organization, particularly our Ambassador, was more than we ever could have imagined. While we started out small, the program was a tremendous success – all 25 of our mentors have enrolled in their second year of college, which far outpaces the national average for young people like them!" Bob Giannino-Racine, Executive Director, ACCESS
