Development and Events Coordinator

Position Summary: 

MMP is seeking a creative and dynamic professional to join our team as the Development and Events Coordinator. Reporting to and closely partnering with the Director of Development, the Development and Events Coordinator will become a subject matter expert and action agent for the mission of MMP. Responsibilities include providing high quality constituent services while supporting all efforts of the development team by generating proposals, impact reports, following up on action items from event and philanthropy committee meetings and ensuring that donor records are maintained and funding requirements are being met and expectations exceeded. This role will play a critical part in the event strategy of the organization overseeing coordination and implementation of the peer to peer fundraising events and supporting the planning and execution of MMP’s Journey to 30 event scheduled for the Fall of 2022. The ideal candidate will take true ownership over their position and certain aspects of the Development efforts while partnering deeply with the Director of Development, the Marketing/Communications, Partnership development, Training and Technical assistance and Operations teams. This position will be encouraged to bring creative ideas and solutions to the team and organization.

Position Requirements: 

 

  • 4 or more years of experience in development, special events, or constituent relations 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience working and communicating effectively in a team environment with diverse staff, volunteers, and various stakeholders 
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented demonstrated by the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Self directed, able to work independently and function effectively in an entrepreneurial environment 
  • Commitment to MMP’s mission and the impact of empowering youth-adult relationships 
  • Ability to work and connect with diverse communities, people and partners, and a commitment to promoting inclusion in all practices and efforts

Responsibilities: 

Fund Development: 40%

  • Supports the front line fundraising efforts to secure a $2.5M annual budget
  • Provides information to donors and other constituents as requested
  • Assists with gift stewardship and grant processing
  • Manages the funding deliverables process and coordinates with Development, Finance, Training and Partnership Development teams
  • Supports the conversion to a new interdepartmental database 
  • Generates giving histories, reports, proposals, and other required materials/collateral for external meetings
  • Executes on full optimization of development functionalities within the database to support fundraising, special events, and constituent relations goals
  • Attends Philanthropy and Events Committee Meetings, captures notes, and follow up actions 
  • Ensures updated contact and biographical information is tracked for all top prospects, and assists with data entry, preparing reports, queries, and analysis

Event Management: 40%

  • Drives successful Peer to Peer events from planning to execution, using effective communication skills and attention to detail
  • Serves as the team lead for the Rodman Ride, The Falmouth Road Race, and the Boston Marathon
  • Manages the dashboards and landing pages for event websites 
  • Assists the Director of Development with the planning and logistics of major events including but not limited to:
    • Scheduling event committee meetings
    • Taking minutes and tracking team updates in the database
    • Coordinates with Communications team to execute on donor benefits attached to sponsorship levels
    • RSVP and attendance tracking
    • Room Set up and material preparation
    • Catering and technology needs
    • Auction management 

Administrative & Development Operations: 20%

  • Works daily to update tracking systems: Donor Pipeline, Fund Development Plan, Sponsorship pipelines, Board Giving spreadsheet, Funding Deliverables Document
  • Supports the DOD in converting various tracking systems to a new database
  • Coordinates with DOD on gift acknowledgement process 

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Participate in meetings, organizational functions, and community events necessary to perform job responsibilities and/or to represent MMP 
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance relevant knowledge and skill sets 
  • Participate in creating a more culturally responsive environment at MMP
