Celebrating Ten Years of Quality Based Membership

Celebrating Ten Years of Quality Based Membership

On September 26, Mass Mentoring Partnership and Quality Based Members (QBM) mentoring program partners at the Boston Public Schools Headquarters in Roxbury Bruce C. Bolling Building in Boston to celebrate ten years of evidence-based practice!

How it all Began

It was a great opportunity to look back at the creation of the first-in-the-nation QBM process that has helped ensure high-quality best practices are being followed by youth-serving programs across Massachusetts. QBM has given many programs the framework and tools to make sure that they are serving young people at a high level across their organizations.

MMP assists programs in reaching our Partner level through trainings, technical assistance and materials to help them meet the QBM standards. The standards are based on The Elements of Effective Practice and continue to be replicated nationally. We reviewed the events leading up to the start of QBM and also acknowledged the generous support of State Street, the primary corporate funder that helped create the QBM program. Other early seed funders also include BNY Mellon and Highland Street Foundation.

Reflecting on Ten Years

DSC_0623.JPGThe event was not only a celebration, but an opportunity to hear from our program partners, several of whom have been QBM partner members since its inception. We engaged in group discussions on updated QBM standards, including those aimed at strengthening culturally responsive practices at mentoring programs. We discussed the QBM renewal process and how programs can work with MMP to continue to meet QBM standards. Programs also talked about current incentives that are offered to Partner level programs and offered ideas for updating these member benefits.

Our new President and CEO, Lily Mendez, closed the event by urging our program partners to stay engaged with MMP and the QBM process. She reiterated that MMP is always looking for ways to improve the work that we do and helping our partners create and sustain relationships for young people.

We live-streamed the event and you can watch the recording here.

We thank all of our partners who attended! We look forward to continue to work with all of you to strengthen this work!
