Accomplishments
These examples illustrate how over the course of its history, MMP has played a critical role in advancing the field of youth mentoring:
- We helped to design and execute the multi-year, $1-million-plus Liberty Mutual Mentoring Initiative, resulting in thousands of new mentoring relationships exceeding original goals. The initiative also included a component that measured the power of mentoring and effectiveness of various program models.
- MMP led a successful effort to implement one of the most generous time-off policies in the country for Commonwealth of Massachusetts employees that provides them with eight hours a month so that they can mentor youth during the workday.
- We maintain the only statewide directory of 125+ quality youth mentoring programs that guides referrals for potential mentors and provides leads for parents.
- MMP subsidizes mentor-mentee activities - more than $50,000 worth in 2007 alone, including the annual Mentoring Night at Fenway Park where 700 matches were hosted by MMP and the Boston Red Sox. Other activities include Celtics games, museum passes, college basketball games, dining and store discounts, and other events.
